Unsure if she/he is a forever residence, but we'll see how his or her feeding habits are the rest of the month.
These snakes are not listed as a species normally found in Indiana, although they appear to be "moving" in. The Midwest, instead of the Northern (shown here) is the common Brown Snake found in the state of Indiana. (So they say.)

I really don't suggest holding OBTs, they are known for attitude and a defensive nature. Mine kinda curled up all shy when I tried to prod it out into its new enclosure, and has never given me a threat posture thus far.

Selket the Asian Forest Scorpion and Sebastian to Albino Checkered Garter are the only two that are camera shy eating, just a heads up. :)

Today was a joyous day, I got to shoot some guns! A .22 World War 2 Survival Rifle, an automatic .22 rifle, and a Smith and Wesson .22 Revolver. I still can't hit anything with the Revolver, but I'll be practicing more!
Actually took me a while to figure out how to get the sight in my own line of sight. Heh. My eyes see complete differences in near and far, so it was a little tricky.
I just LOVE shooting guns. I'm hoping to eventually hunt, skin my own meat (taxidermy purposes), and eat my kills in the future!

Spring time brings a soggy mess of mud-muck and soon-to-be fresh greenery growing in the water-filling lowland area of the park. This will bring lots of breeding space for local frog life and turtles, as well as salamanders and a ton of bugs.

This little guy/gal had numerous scars, and gouges in his/her scales. And a little stubby tail! But oh so beautiful!

...or Grey Tree Frog, bahahaha, I always type it with an e first, so had to add that here :P
Here's just a close up a tree frog I picked up last night, only because he was darker than what I normally see. When I got towards him on the road I thought he was a toad because of the texture and colour variations on his skin. I decided to bring him back to the house for some up-close video time!

First critter I came across today (04/06/2013) while beginning my walk into the deeper area of Mill Race Park, in Columbus, Indiana.

Don't mind the messiness, he is in a quarantine tub right now and it doesn't have a pump, his tub is cleaned every day to every other day, depending on the messiness. These are three different feeding videos in one! Hope you enjoy!

A lovely night for a long drive on the back-roads, going in an area I haven't been, and finding a "hot-spot" for toads coming out for the rain.

This is my Bloodred Corn Snake baby. Hope those that love this kind of thing enjoy! All food was frozen/thawed!

Sorry, I'm not really sure of the species...maybe a type of fishing or wolf or true spider, ahahaah! If anyone knows, please leave a link in the comments with the information you found. =)

I had posted information about this where nobody would understand how I felt. So, I'm going to rewrite it here, because speaking is a lot fucking harder than writing about it. I can speak to myself a prepared speech all day, but actually trying it...oh, fuck no.

Having gotten into tarantulas just last year (end of February 2012), and knowing my care is good and well of them, this is very discouraging. Even though Freddy (whose grave is not present here, she was buried in the country-side) was an older T when I got her, it still sucks she was the first to pass last year. Then Morty (A. avic.) passed after just maturing, and I was told/read that they live four years as a male in that species. While I was freaking about about the health of my snakes (a video deleted) Buttons unexpectantly passed away. Now, last night/evening on March 25th, Xander, my bald-butted boy passed away. Even though I hadn't expected him to live that long, because he was a mature male when I got him, it just really is crushing that this seems to be happening in the colder months time frame that it has. We all know winter months can be very depressing for folks, especially those of us that really only have our critters for comfort. Humans NEED human contact. Lack of that can cause issues, I think that's been established.

I took very good care of my babies, as they are that, my children. I love them, loved them, always will. Water, humidity, food, is provided on daily and weekly basis. I do research on care, I check care videos and see what works for others, this goes on and on. I always want the best for my babies.

Lilith, the other grave in the video, was the female poss. het Albino Checkered Garter Snake to be paired with Sebastian. She died within two days of an unusual ailment.

So yes, this is hard, this is fucking hard. Things are supposed to be getting better this year...hopes are being crushed.
I just hope something GOOD, really good, happens soon.

I don't want sappy sympathy. I just figured you all who care for these amazing creatures would understand what I'm going through.

Before you hear me say it (or when, whatever) there was NO mating ball! Bahaha! I was so slap-happy excited that I didn't think whether it was toooo early for Garter Snakes to be breeding.
The Story:
As I was returning from my further walk into the park I saw a man with a stick, he was waving/pointing into the dried weeds on a small hill-side by the path. I asked him, "What ya got there?!" I knew it before he answered, except, I didn't know how many. The hillside had several, what I learned were male, Common Garters. There were a few wrapped-up together which was why I thought they had a "mating ball" started. I saw two greet each other later, like....turn their heads sideways as if to say "What's up man? Long time no see!" Hahaah! I had a woman with me on the path also witness this with me. Along with this woman came many children, from what I could eaves-drop on it was a child's birthday party. All these children, about six of them, came to see the Garter Snakes, and they came to pet and hold them as well. It was very magical for me to share that moment with all those snakes, with those children. Also very educational for them, they were able to learn about snakes being awesome and not evil!
What a wonderful day!

Went out in the backyard and discovered the worms were crawling out of their holes, the Spring showers are about to start and they know it! So I ran back in to get my camera, I just thought it was a fun event in Nature :)

Here's a little frog I found last night (April 14th,2013) on the road (was cooler than the night I went before out critter hunting). I brought him back with me, no clue why, but he is currently outside with the wild-caught turtle. I will have updates on whether I can get the turtle to eat or not in captivity in a week. :)
One of these days it says we're supposed to have 89 degree F. weather, so I'm hoping that'll happen and I can find more in the daytime, as well as night on the roads again.
